Bio
Raines Carr has been working in theatre, film, and television for the past three decades.
He holds a BA in Theatre from Florida State University and an MFA in Theatre with a concentration in Directing from The University of Alabama.
He spent 12 years in Hollywood working on differing projects including the development team for many animated films at Walt Disney Feature Animation and commercial casting on over 450 national, regional, and international commercials with Ocean Park Casting.
He is the creator of Shepardfest: The Sam Shepard Festival which showcased 12 events over one weekend celebrating the life and works of Mr. Shepard with students, professionals, academics, and the public at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL.
He is now a theatre director and educator with an interest in rediscovering the classics and new works of diverse authors.
While he was the Theatre Director at Chipola College, all 4 of his Main Stage productions at the Chipola Center for the Arts were awarded a Superior Ranking from the Florida College System Activities Association. He also received the Innovation Award for his 2022 production of The Importance of Being Earnest and the Community Service Award for his 2023 production of You Can’t Take It With You.
His favorite playwrights are Tennessee Williams, Sam Shepard, Suzan-Lori Parks, Neil Labute, Henrik Ibsen, and William Shakespeare.
He is also an avid action figure collector and the host of Each Sold Separately: An Action Figure Podcast. It is listened to in over 50 countries.
He has a beautiful wife, a son named Harrison Hart, a lazy dog, and a very large cat.
