Bio

Raines Carr is a multidisciplinary theatre artist and educator with over 30 years of experience in theatre, film, and television. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Florida State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre (Directing) from The University of Alabama.

Carr spent more than a decade working in Los Angeles, where he contributed to numerous high-profile projects across the entertainment industry. At Walt Disney Feature Animation, he served on the development team for several major animated films, and later worked in commercial casting at Ocean Park Casting, where he participated in the casting of over 450 national, regional, and international commercials.

A passionate advocate for new work and bold voices, Carr is the creator of Shepardfest: The Sam Shepard Festival, a weekend-long celebration of the playwright's legacy featuring 12 events that brought together students, professionals, scholars, and community members at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.

As Theatre Director at Chipola College, Carr’s productions earned statewide recognition. All four of his main stage productions at the Chipola Center for the Arts received Superior Rankings from the Florida College System Activities Association. His production of The Importance of Being Earnest was honored with the Innovation Award in 2022, followed by the Community Service Award in 2023 for You Can’t Take It With You.

Carr currently serves as the Artistic Director of ABET – All Beaches Experimental Theatre in Atlantic Beach, Florida, where he continues to champion inclusive, community-engaged theatre. He also teaches as an adjunct professor of theatre at Florida State College at Jacksonville, mentoring the next generation of artists and storytellers.

Beyond the stage, Carr is an avid action figure historian and collector. He hosts the international podcast Each Sold Separately: An Action Figure Podcast, which is listened to in over 50 countries worldwide.
